Mi Casa is a house music band consisting of three members, Dr. Duda (producer and pianist), J'Something (vocalist and guitarist), and Mo-T (trumpeter). The band was formed early 2011 when all three future members were at a night lounge and decided to perform together. A few months later, Mi Casa was formed and released their first album, Mi Casa Music, which quickly went gold and won several awards at the 18th Annual MTN South Africa Music Awards (SAMAs).
In 2013, the band released a follow-up project, Su Casa which had a number of hit songs including, Jika, I Want You and Your Body. Both albums received high rotation and were certified double-platinum. To date, they have received a plethora of awards including five South African Music Awards (SAMAs), two Sunday Times Next Generation Awards, one Feather and two Wawela Music Awards.
Mi Casa has performed at festivals across the globe and is now considered to be one of the busiest house band in the country. Some of the group’s most notable achievements include their performance at the US Presidential Inauguration, a 16-City African Tour and co-composing MNET’s Africa Rise soundtrack. The group has also raised over R150 000 for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.
